                                                                     Build a Catalog of Releases

For example: I did a 10-cut release of public domain Christmas songs back in 2010. Each year since it plays in about 30 countries every Christmas. Last Christmas in the US, the radio plays tallied over three million 700 thousand for just one of the tracks. That's where the royalties come from. I didn't write these songs, I just arranged them, recorded them, mastered them and sent them out to various broadcast facilities and media around the world. I didn't send out that many. Some songs I just posted on the various social media platforms and allowed the tracks to be made available to broadcast media.

Research your audience. Who are they, what are they listening to now, and where do they hear it? Know your audience, collect their emails and start building a community of supporters and fans.
